Supportive Resources for Families

One of the things we have seen when we serve families with home restoration services is that most families could use other assistance in helping remain living in their home.

At Twin Cities Habitat, we are beginning to walk alongside families to help them get connected to essential supportive resources for the home.

We are in the process of developing a short list (10-15) of complementary community resources that families can have reasonable confidence, they will get a level of service that will help them in their journey to maintain their homeownership.

We are not trying to be a resource clearinghouse, for there are wonderful groups like the United Way and the Area Agencies on Aging that provide this type of vital community service.

Our referral list will come from our years of dealing with thousands of families struggling to maintain their home and realizing that their is a recurring pattern of other needs that could complement our own services.

The list will include: energy assistance, legal aid, thrift stores, DIY support etc.

In the next couple of months, we will be hiring a part-time intern as a Home Resource Advisor to support and strengthen our families ability to remain living in their home.  This is a pilot initiative and will keep you posted on our findings. abwk habitat for humanity
